The death and dependency provision of Chapter 440, Florida Statutes, raises numerous questions not typically addressed in the workers’ compensation context. This course will address statutory interpretation of §440.16, Fla. Stat., and the body of common law which has grown around it. Topics will include identification of potential beneficiaries, calculation of benefits, determination of dependency, and payment of funeral expenses.
